![]() Strengthening the Local Economy The City of Beaverton and Beaverton Chamber are rolling out a new strategy to help local businesses grow by giving them access to high-quality market research and demographic data bases at no charge. GIS, data base research, and other sophisticated information tools that are normally available only to large corporations, would be made available to small, local growing businesses to improve decision making. High quality information, combined with the development of supportive infrastructure, and the creation of connections to universities, trade associations, and other public/private resources, will provide an environment that fosters growth in these Beaverton based companies. For example, a business might approach our Economic Gardening program and provide a list of customers. Using GIS business analysis tools, customer locations would then be plotted on a map of Beaverton. The high-density areas are noted and the underlying demographic, lifestyle and consumer expenditure data are used to build a profile of the company's customers. It is a simple matter to find additional neighborhoods that match that profile. The process would give Beaverton companies highly targeted marketing capabilities. Other services would include:
