Position No. 1: Ian King

Ian’s involvement in the City’s budget committee and his awareness of the current issues facing Beaverton make him the strong choice for Position No. 1.  His ability to build consensus and find commonalities of purpose among different stakeholders of the city government and business community will make him an effective Councilor.

Mark’s experience as a business owner and his role as chair of the Visioning Advisory Committee combine to make him an outstanding and impactful candidate for City Council.  His passion and commitment to community engagement and outreach are demonstrated in his hands-on work this past year.  Visioning and Civic plan work have made traction and he’s prepared to begin the implementation phase in a positive and collaborative manner.
Mark is committed to growing business in Beaverton by bringing more businesses to Beaverton with the recognition that government cannot impose more taxes and higher fees on existing business that are already struggling to maintain jobs.
He will bring knowledge, enthusiasm, and a positive energy to the City Council. Mark will study and analyze the work brought to the council, is willing to ask tough questions, make challenges where necessary, and do it with professionalism and integrity.

Position 5: Marc San Soucie

Beaverton is fortunate to have had Marc San Soucie on City Council since 2008.  His work ethic and breadth of knowledge on city and regional issues gives him the ability to make difficult and sound decisions on behalf of the community.
Marc is a relationship and consensus builder.  He works diligently to understand the issues before him, seeks out all sides and listens acutely before he reaches his decisions. 

Marc brings new and strategic ideas to the City leadership and is working hard to improve systems and procedures encouraging a deeper dialogue between City Councilors, staff and the Mayor’s office.   He is clear about his goals and continues to find new ways to improve the flow of information and efficiencies within the City. His enthusiasm, passion and record, show his commitment to making Beaverton the best community in Oregon is unwavering.

Washington County Board of Commissioners Chair: Andy Duyck


Andy has a demonstrated track record of strong leadership and a pro-business platform. He understands the need for reduced spending and greater accountability. Duyck strongly believes that incremental increases in taxes and fees are detrimental to growing our jobs base in Washington County. He is a strong believer in localization and that the County’s role is to assist cities in achieving their community initiatives. He is committed to creating conditions where family wage jobs are created.

Metro Council President: Tom Hughes

Tom Hughes has a demonstrated track record of strong leadership.  His vision and goals include a cultural change at Metro, a desire for Metro to coordinate and assist local governments in their economic development and business outreach, and a strong commitment to give local governments more say in economic development whenever possible.  Tom recognizes that job growth will come from the private sector, and that government’s role is to promote a healthy business environment and economy.
