Candidate Endorsement Council

Purpose: Ensure pro-business candidates are elected to local offices that impact the health and sustainability of the Beaverton business community.

Mission: The Candidate Endorsement Council promotes a vibrant business environment by endorsing candidates who support sound public policy that strengthens the business community and the free enterprise system.

The Council is independent of any political party, candidates or organizations, except the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce.

 

2016 Endorsements

House District 28 – Gary Carlson
 Long-time Chamber member Gary Carlson gets endorsement
Gary has worked in agriculture, owned multiple businesses, is an attorney and understands business. Gary will be a voice for more efficient and financially responsible government. Visit his website and learn more about Gary and his vision for a streamlined government.
House District 30 – Dan Mason
For the past 15 years, Dan has worked for Prime Group, a property management company. As a community manager he oversees a property with over $4 million in revenue and a community which houses hundreds of residents of Washington County.
As co-founder and past President of Emerging Leaders of Oregon, Dan has been in the driver’s seat of Portland’s most prolific political incubator. The organization continues to inform, inspire and equip an emerging generation of leaders to actively engage with and improve their communities, businesses and government.
Dan’s passion for public service has led him to seek this Legislative Seat to offer a more balanced set of solutions for dealing with housing, transportation, job creation, and long-term sustainability of our community. Visit his website for more information.

Make Up: The Council consists of 8 members all of whom are appointed annually by the Board of Directors of the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce. They shall not have filed to run for or hold any public elective office.

Races: The Council has sole discretion in endorsing candidates in contested races for local offices. These are the local elected positions that may be considered for endorsement dependant upon the council’s determination of the race impacts on the business community.

  • County Commissioner’s Chair and 2 Beaverton Area seats per district boundaries
  • Metro
